NASA plans to use artificial intelligence (AI)-powered drones while building a base on the Moon.

Carlos Garcia-Galan, head of the US space agency's Moon base program, told RIA Novosti that AI is a key direction. Drones will use AI to survey areas and find suitable landing sites.

The US is still in the early design phase of the lunar station. In May, NASA announced a three-phase plan to create a habitable base on the lunar surface by 2032.
