The US State Department has imposed travel restrictions to the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Uganda due to the rapid spread of the Ebola virus.
According to a statement, the US embassy in the DRC cannot provide adequate assistance to citizens. Americans are advised to avoid non-essential travel to these countries.
The WHO has declared the Ebola outbreak an international emergency. The virus was first detected in the DRC in 1976, with the largest epidemic occurring in West Africa from 2014-2016.
