A powerful earthquake in Venezuela has killed at least 235 people and injured over 4,300 others, according to Health Minister Carlos Alvarado.
Alvarado announced the figures on the state television channel "Venezolana de Television." "Unfortunately, we have received about 235 patients who were already dead or showed no signs of life when brought to our medical centers," he said.
The minister added that over 4,300 victims have received necessary medical aid. "Some of the injured have minor injuries, but there are also patients in moderate and critical condition," Alvarado noted, highlighting that many have undergone surgery and the most critical situation is in La Guaira state.
