Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has indicated he may resign as his term draws to a close.

He made the statement during a visit to China. “I could resign soon,” he said.

Vucic first became president in 2017 and was re-elected for a second term in 2022. His term ends in 2027.

On May 21, Vucic announced that a parliamentary election would be held in the fall. Parliament Speaker Ana Brnabic said the ruling party would nominate Vucic as candidate for prime minister.
