US President Donald Trump's special envoy, Steve Witkoff, has departed for Doha, the capital of Qatar.
Talks between the US and Iran are expected to take place in Doha on Tuesday.
CNN reported, citing two US officials, that “Witkoff is currently en route to Doha.”
It is not yet known whether Trump's son-in-law, Jared Kushner, is with Witkoff.
Earlier, Trump announced that a US-Iran meeting was planned for Tuesday in Doha. However, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Baqai later stressed that Tehran does not plan any contacts with US representatives in Qatar in the near future.
