Taking a cold shower before bed in hot weather can lead to insomnia.
According to Oxu.Az, citing Spain's "El Economista" newspaper, this was stated by doctor Jose Manuel Felices.
"A cold shower provides instant relief, but when you lie down afterwards, your body feels like it's in a hot oven," the doctor noted. He explained that the brain perceives a sharp temperature change as 'freezing' and activates the body's heat retention mechanism.
According to the doctor, the main problem appears after 10 minutes:
"The body heats up again and dilates pores to restore balance. As a result, a reverse reaction occurs: the person sweats profusely and the bedding becomes damp."
