During hot months, food poisoning risk increases. Dietitian Anastasia Lebedeva told RT that the main reasons are high temperatures, improper storage, and poor hygiene.
Dairy products, seafood, meat, cream pastries, salads, and saucy dishes are high-risk. People should be careful when eating at beaches, markets, and street stalls.
Water is also a source of infection. Ice, unwashed fruits and vegetables, and water from unknown sources are dangerous. Children dehydrate faster, so parents must be cautious.
For prevention, drink clean water, wash hands frequently, avoid suspicious eateries, and refrigerate prepared meals. Alcohol does not disinfect food; it worsens dehydration. In case of severe symptoms, seek medical help.
