Azerbaijan Food Safety Agency (AFSA) has strengthened control over the sale and slaughter of sacrificial animals ahead of Qurban Bayram. The goal is to protect public health, ensure safe meat, and prevent environmental pollution.
According to AFSA department head Galib Abdulaliyev, as in previous years, the sale and slaughter of sacrificial animals will be organized at pre-designated locations in coordination with relevant state bodies.
Only animals that have passed veterinary inspection will be offered at sales and slaughter points. Slaughter will be carried out at facilities meeting special veterinary-sanitary requirements. In some regions, mobile slaughter tents will be set up.
AFSA urges citizens to perform sacrifices in accordance with religious rules and legislation. Slaughter and sale of animals on streets, roadsides, or other public places, as well as transportation without veterinary documents, is prohibited.
