Armenia's "Alliance" Party has withdrawn its candidacy and will not participate in the parliamentary elections scheduled for June 7.
According to Oxu.Az citing Armenian media, the Central Election Commission (CEC) confirmed the information. A meeting on the matter is expected in the coming days.
Earlier, the CEC had refused to register party leader Tigran Urikhanyan due to failure to meet the residency requirement. According to the law, candidates must be Armenian citizens who have permanently resided in the country for the past four years.
A total of 16 parties and two blocs will participate in the Armenian parliamentary elections, including "Civil Contract," "Armenia," "Strong Armenia," "Enlightened Armenia," and other political forces.
