Despite US President Donald Trump calling on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to refrain from further attacks, Tel Aviv has announced strikes on military sites in western and central Iran.
According to Oxu.Az, this was reported by Reuters. Hours earlier, Trump stated that the new strikes between Tel Aviv and Tehran would not affect his administration's peace negotiations with Iran.
"This will not affect the agreement at all. I make all the decisions. He does not make decisions," the White House leader said.
Earlier, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) launched a series of strikes on Israeli territory. According to the Tasnim agency, Tehran described the attack as a response to Israeli military operations in Beirut.
This is the first rocket attack on Israel by Iranian armed forces in two months. Iran targeted Israel with solid-fuel Kheibarshekan missiles. The agency report states that the missiles have a range of 1,450 km and a weight of approximately 4,500 kg.
This type of ballistic missile is part of the IRGC's third-generation arsenal. Official Tehran assessed the attack on Israel as a warning. According to the IRGC, the main target was a military airbase.
US President Donald Trump also called on the Tehran leadership to return to the negotiating table. He claimed that the parties were on the verge of signing a peace agreement and asked Iran to refrain from further attacks.
