A court in Baku has extended the detention of several prominent political figures.
The Sabail District Court reviewed the cases of former Presidential Administration head Ramiz Mehdiyev, Azerbaijani Popular Front Party (APFP) chairman Ali Karimli, former Presidential Administration employee Eldar Amirov, and APFP Presidium member Mammad Ibrahim, all linked to an ongoing investigation by the State Security Service (SSS).
Karimli and Ibrahim have had their pre-trial detention extended by five months. Mehdiyev, who is under house arrest, also had his measure extended by five months. Similarly, Amirov's detention was extended by the same period.
Karimli faces charges under Article 278.1 (attempted forcible seizure of power) of the Criminal Code. The investigation continues within the SSS.
