Mehdi Amrahov, former head of the Information and Statistics Department of the Ministry of Health, has been charged with large-scale embezzlement and other crimes.
According to Oxu.Az citing APA, a criminal case has been initiated by the Anti-Corruption Department under the Prosecutor General.
The accused is charged with embezzling over 600,000 manats of the ministry's funds.
Charges have been brought under Articles 179.4 (embezzlement causing particularly large damage), 308.2 (abuse of office leading to severe consequences), and 313 (official forgery) of the Criminal Code.
Mehdi Amrahov has partially compensated for the damage during the investigation. Due to his age and health, he has been placed under police supervision.
The case has been sent to the Baku Court of Grave Crimes for consideration, under judge Neymat Mammadov.
