The trial of Samir Mamedov, accused of causing the death of a pedestrian with his route bus, has concluded at the Baku Court of Grave Crimes.
Presided by Judge Sabina Mammadzade, the court sentenced Mamedov to 5 years and 6 months in prison, with a 3-year driving ban. He was arrested in the courtroom.
The victim's family initially filed a civil claim for 50,170 manats against the transport company, but later withdrew it.
The incident occurred on December 1, 2025, in the Bina settlement. Mamedov, driving a Daewoo bus, struck pedestrian Vurgun Aliyev, who died at the scene.
He was charged under Article 263-1.3 of the Criminal Code (traffic violation causing death by negligence).
