The court investigation has begun in Baku regarding a teenager accused of shooting a teacher at the "Idrak" lyceum.
At the Baku Heavy Crimes Court, presided over by judge Vugar Guliyev, the prosecutor announced the indictment. According to the indictment, teacher Shahla Kamilova reprimanded the student for not knowing the lesson. The student perceived this as disrespect.
The teenager took a hunting rifle and ammunition drum hidden by his father, Samir Sharinov, from home and brought them to school. He concealed the rifle in his backpack, prepared it for firing, and shot the teacher in her classroom.
The student partially admitted guilt and stated he did not intend to kill the teacher. The next hearing is scheduled for July 24.
The incident occurred on February 6, 2026, at the private "Idrak" lyceum in Baku's Binagadi district. The student was detained and ordered to remain in custody for four months. He has been charged under Article 29, 120.2.2 (attempted murder with hooliganism motive) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan.
