The mayor of Pyatykhatky, Dnipropetrovsk region, Hilal Isayev, an Azerbaijani, was stabbed.
The 61-year-old mayor was wounded in the chest and hospitalized in critical condition.
The attacker fled the scene. Police have launched a search.
According to reports, the attack occurred in the mayor's office. The suspect is a local farmer.
Hilal Isayev has been a member of the Batkivshchyna party since 2015 and mayor of Pyatykhatky since 2020.
