The State Customs Committee (SCC) foiled a large-scale smuggling attempt after a comprehensive customs control and operational-search measures.
According to Oxu.Az, a group of individuals used forged documents to smuggle goods from Turkey to Azerbaijan. Hidden behind a shipment of "fertilizer" in a truck, officers discovered 10 million packs of "Boston" brand cigarettes without excise stamps, valued at 1.5 million manats. The suspects were detained.
A criminal case has been initiated under relevant articles of the Criminal Code, and three people have been charged and remanded in custody. Investigative measures continue.
