The investigation into the criminal case of Taryel Guliyev, accused of hooliganism, has concluded at the Nizami District Court.
Judge Matanat Hajiyeva presided over the trial and read the verdict. Guliyev was sentenced to 2 years in prison.
According to the indictment, a dispute arose over a debt of 3,100 manats between Guliyev and the victim, Yamin Nabiyev. They later agreed to meet to settle the debt.
It was established that the accused took his father's double-barreled shotgun to the meeting. The incident occurred in a public area of a residential settlement in the evening of 2025.
The investigation concluded that Guliyev attempted to violently resolve a personal dispute. He grossly violated public order by disturbing others and used the shotgun he brought.
From a distance of about 5-6 meters, Guliyev fired a single shot from the shotgun, which contained two cartridges, at the victim's lower limbs. The victim suffered multiple shrapnel wounds.
The indictment stated that Guliyev committed hooliganism involving violence and weapon use, grossly violating public order.
During the trial, Guliyev partially admitted guilt. He confirmed the events as described in the indictment and his previous statements.
The accused expressed remorse, stated that the damage was fully compensated, and that he voluntarily surrendered to law enforcement. He also noted that he has a minor child and asked the court for a fair decision.
The court examined testimonies, expert reports, and other evidence. Guliyev was charged under Article 221.3 of the Criminal Code, i.e., hooliganism committed with a weapon.
