The court process regarding the death of 16-year-old Maleyka Mammadova, who underwent throat surgery in Gabala, has concluded.
Dr. Elchin Mahmudov, an otorhinolaryngologist at the district hospital, was sentenced to 3 years in prison. He was also banned from medical practice for 1 year and 6 months.
In June 2023, Maleyka Mammadova underwent a tonsillectomy. Three days later, she died due to acute bleeding.
