The cassation appeal of Emin Aliyarov, one of the accused in the assassination attempt on MP Fazil Mustafa, has been reviewed.
According to APA, the Supreme Court, presided over by judge Nazim Movsumov, made a decision today. The appeal was rejected, and the previous sentence was upheld.
Recall that the incident occurred on March 28, 2023, in the Zabrat settlement of Sabunchu district. MP Fazil Mustafa was shot at with a Kalashnikov rifle in front of his home.
The State Security Service launched a case under Articles 277, 228.2.1, and others. As a result of operations, the suspects were detained: Emin Aliyarov, Rashad Ahmadov, Azer Saricanov, Elshad Asgarov, and Sabuhi Shirinov.
By the verdict of the Baku Court of Grave Crimes, Azer Saricanov was sentenced to life imprisonment, Sabuhi Shirinov to 20 years, Rashad Ahmadov to 19 years, Elshad Asgarov to 18 years, and Emin Aliyarov to 4 years. The Court of Appeal upheld the sentence.
