The trial of Agasaf Guliyev, who defrauded victims by pretending to be a law enforcement officer and promising jobs and customs fee payments, has been held.
At the Baku Court of Grave Crimes, witness Rauf Gasimov said he has known the accused for over 5 years: "We wanted to get my nephew a job. He said he worked at the main department. He saw the boy and said: let him train a bit more, and we'll get him into the police."
The next hearing is scheduled for June 10. An investigation based on a complaint to the Ministry of Internal Affairs revealed that Guliyev fraudulently obtained 108,000 manat (job promise) and 25,000 manat (vehicle registration), totaling 133,000 manat. He provided false information and made fake phone calls to the victim.
Guliyev has been remanded in custody and charged under Article 178.3.2 of the Criminal Code (fraud causing large-scale damage).
