The Baku Court of Grave Crimes has issued a verdict in a kidnapping case.
Rashad Knyazov was sentenced to 9 years, while his brother Urfan Knyazov received 8 years and 6 months in prison.
Investigation revealed they, along with their cousin Ayxan Knyazov, abducted Elshad Beyov from Ukuroba village, Khachmaz, and brought him to Baku.
Elshad Beyov had extorted money from a woman acquainted with Ayxan. Following Ayxan's request, the brothers drove from Baku to Khachmaz. Upon entering the woman's mother's house, they saw Elshad being beaten. They then tied his hands and feet, gagged him, and placed him in the trunk of a Toyota Prius.
Elshad was held hostage for a day in the Hovsan settlement before escaping. Both the perpetrators and Elshad Beyov are reportedly members of a religious group. Ayxan Knyazov remains at large.
