The two-year trial of Elchin Farzaliyev and Murad Mammadov, accused of raiding an apartment and killing the homeowners in Shabran, has ended.
At the last session in Sumgayit Heavy Crimes Court, the verdict was read. The court found both defendants guilty of murder with extreme cruelty for profit and robbery.
Elchin's previous 14-year sentence for intentional homicide (2010-2024) was noted as an aggravating factor. The defendants partially admitted guilt, claiming they entered the house based on wrong information for theft.
Given the gravity of the crime, no leniency was shown. Both were sentenced to life imprisonment.
The incident occurred in 2024. Elchin Farzaliyev, 43, and Murad Mammadov, 48, raided a residence in Shabran. They killed Gulnara Huseynova, 54, and injured her husband Arif Huseynov, 56, using a metal object. Arif later died in a Baku hospital.
