A man named Tahmasib Aliyev has been sentenced to 18 years and 6 months in prison for the murder of his brother's wife, Rəviyyə Nərmanova, in Celilabad, Azerbaijan.
According to the indictment read at the Lankaran Heavy Crimes Court, Aliyev killed the woman after a quarrel, stabbing her 74 times with a kitchen knife.
The incident occurred at night. Aliyev, who had been drinking beer, entered the victim's room through an open window. He grabbed her by the throat and repeatedly stabbed her while she was in bed.
During the trial, Aliyev pleaded guilty, stating that the victim had insulted him and his deceased father, which angered him. He expressed remorse and asked for leniency due to his four young children.
The victim's sister testified that there had been a family conflict over property issues the day before, and that Aliyev had threatened to kill her sister.
