The Sheki Heavy Crimes Court has concluded the trial of Hasrat Aliyev, accused of premeditated murder with extreme cruelty and illegal weapon possession.
During the trial, Aliyev stated: "After the incident, I also injured myself and attempted suicide." He claimed he suspected his wife Zahra of infidelity, which led to the murder.
According to the investigation, Aliyev illegally obtained a hunting knife in 2025. In late May, he stabbed his wife to death in their home in Sheki. Their young son was present during the attack.
The court found him guilty under Articles 120.2.4, 120.2.9, and 228.5 of the Criminal Code and sentenced him to 18 years in a strict-regime prison.
