An appeal has been filed against the conviction of Martin Ryan, accused of spying for France, and Azad Mammadli, charged with high treason.
The Baku Court of Appeals, chaired by Judge Murad Mammadov, will hold a preliminary hearing on June 11.
Ryan was sentenced to 10 years and Mammadli to 12 years by the Baku Heavy Crimes Court.
According to the indictment, Ryan allegedly collected information on weapons, ammunition, and the Azerbaijani army on behalf of France's DGSE intelligence service. He reportedly introduced Mammadli to French agents and promised him foreign citizenship.
Both were arrested by the State Security Service on December 4, 2023. Ryan was the CEO of Merkorama LLC.
