The trial of Samadaga Aghalarov, accused of fraud by promising to release a detainee and open a furniture workshop, continued at Baku Heavy Crimes Court.
Judge Firdovsi Aliyev heard witness testimonies. Witness Namig Abbasov said his childhood friend Jeyhun asked for $40,000 for a job.
'I gave him the money, and he passed it to the defendant,' Abbasov stated. The next hearing is set for June 9.
According to the indictment, Aghalarov promised Seymur Haziyev to get his brother Elnur released from prison through high-ranking contacts. Elnur had been sentenced to 7 years 6 months in 2019. Aghalarov fraudulently obtained 74,000 manats.
He also promised Jeyhun Shafiyev to open a furniture workshop, buying equipment and sharing profits, fraudulently obtaining 149,296 manats. The defendant pleaded guilty in court.
