The court investigation into the criminal case initiated by the State Security Service (DTX) against Siyafat Farzaliyev, accused of treason and illegal possession of firearm parts, has concluded.
The verdict was delivered at the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Heavy Crimes Court under Judge Faig Heydarov.
According to the verdict, the accused was sentenced to 15 years and 6 months in prison.
According to the indictment, Farzaliyev was recruited by foreign special services for material gain and engaged in espionage activities against Azerbaijan's sovereignty, territorial integrity, and state security.
He also illegally acquired, carried, and stored firearm parts.
He was detained as a result of DTX's operational-search measures.
Farzaliyev was charged under Articles 228.1 (illegal possession of weapons) and 274 (high treason) of the Criminal Code.
