The trial of Bahruz Pashayev, director of Taxes Group LLC (Loft Dent clinic), has commenced at the Baku Court of Grave Crimes over a fire that killed three residents.
Presided by Judge Babek Panahov, the hearing verified the identities of the accused and the victims.
The prosecutor requested that the case proceed to trial without changing Pashayev's pre-trial detention.
Victims' lawyers, however, demanded the case be sent back for further investigation, citing procedural violations and the need to involve additional parties.
Lawyer Ali Ganbarov, who lost his child in the fire, filed a motion to also indict the property owner, Vugar Aghayev.
The court postponed the ruling on the motions to the next session, scheduled for June 30.
