A Polish central bank council member proposed raising interest rates by 1.0 percentage points in April, but the motion failed to gain support from other members, according to voting results released by the National Bank of Poland on Friday.
Joanna Tyrowicz of the Monetary Policy Council submitted the motion, which was rejected by fellow council members.
The National Bank of Poland maintained its main interest rate at 3.75% last month, matching analyst expectations. The decision came amid uncertainty surrounding the war in Iran and its potential effects on Poland’s economy, which is the largest in central Europe.
