President Ilham Aliyev discussed a new State Program on agricultural development during a meeting. He emphasized that the document must be specific and short-term.
Statistics show a declining growth rate in agricultural production: 3.4% in 2022, 3% in 2023, 1.5% in 2024, and only 0.9% in 2025. This decline is observed in both crop and livestock sectors.
Economist Khalid Karimli explains the reasons: poor use of technology, irrigation losses (50-60%), and inefficient subsidies. Subsidies compensate farmers' costs rather than boosting productivity.
