An 88-year-old man in Brazil, declared dead by doctors, miraculously came back to life while being prepared for burial.

According to UK's Mirror, doctors had confirmed the elderly man's death due to respiratory failure at the hospital. His body was then transported to a funeral home.

"Our staff were following standard procedures. When they placed the body on the table, they noticed unusual abdominal movements. At first, they weren't sure if he was breathing," said the funeral home director.

Realizing the man still showed signs of life, witnesses immediately called emergency services. Paramedics provided first aid and rushed him back to the hospital.

Local authorities have registered the incident under "failure to provide timely and adequate medical care." The report emphasizes that if not for the careful funeral home workers, the doctor's grave mistake could have led to the man being buried alive.
