MP Aydin Huseynov stated in an interview with Oxu.Az that Azerbaijan has consistently acted in accordance with international humanitarian law during and after the war.
During the 44-day Patriotic War, targets were military objects and infrastructure in occupied territories. Civilian population and settlements were not deliberately targeted.
President Ilham Aliyev's political and diplomatic activities are particularly noted. In his messages, he emphasized Azerbaijan's position based on international law.
In the post-war period, he stressed the importance of sustainable peace, cooperation, and joint development in the region. The focus is on reconstruction, reintegration, and forward-looking policy, not revanchism.
In contrast, Armenia's rocket attacks on Ganja, Barda, Tartar and other settlements caused numerous civilian casualties and infrastructure damage. These cities were far from the war zone.
Azerbaijan prioritized messages of normal neighborly relations, reconstruction, and regional cooperation. Large-scale reconstruction in liberated areas and preparations for the return of IDPs are key directions.
According to Huseynov, Azerbaijan highlights the importance of long-term peace, demonstrating humanitarian and political responsibility. International observers agree that mutual trust and relations based on international law are crucial for stability in the South Caucasus.
