OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said Tuesday that the rapid development of AI will not lead to a global 'jobs apocalypse', contrary to his earlier fears.
Speaking at a Commonwealth Bank of Australia conference in Sydney, Altman noted that AI has not eliminated as many white-collar jobs as he initially worried.
Altman admitted that OpenAI's technological predictions were 'roughly right' but their social and economic predictions were 'pretty wrong'.
He emphasized the irreplaceable 'human part' of employment, sharing his own experience of trying to use AI for Slack and email replies but reverting to personal responses.
