While vacuum cleaners help keep homes clean, if not properly maintained, they can become a source of health problems.

Russian infectious disease specialist Mariyat Mukhina warns that overfilled dust bags pose a threat. Dust particles, bacteria, mold fungi, skin mites, and toxins accumulate in full and uncleaned bags.

These pathogens can cause both local and systemic diseases in the respiratory tract, larynx, and bronchi. When the vacuum is running, these microorganisms and allergens can be blown back into the air. Contact with the contaminated bag can also cause skin reactions.

The expert advises caution when cleaning the vacuum cleaner. Opening a full bag releases fine dust and pathogens into the room, posing a serious risk to children, the elderly, and people with allergies or respiratory diseases.
