The preliminary investigation into one of last year's biggest operations, a 5 million manat cigarette smuggling case, has been completed.
According to Oxu.Az, final charges have been announced against the accused.
The owner of Baku-Hovsan International Trade Sea Port, Ruslan Eyubov, port director Rashad Dashdamirov, head of the Port Station of the Main Customs Department for Maritime Transport and Energy Resources Farid Usubov, and others have been presented with the investigation documents for review.
After the review process, the collected materials will be sent to the Baku Court of Grave Crimes for consideration.
The accused are charged under Articles 206.4, 213-1.2.1, 213-1.2.2, 213-1.2.3, and 308.2 of the Criminal Code.
It is noted that the case was investigated by the Main Anti-Corruption Department under the Prosecutor General. All defendants have been in custody since December last year.
